my son matt sent this link to my son marcus, who passed it on to me....as marcus said, this is the future....a site where you can view movies, tv shows and other stuff right at your computer anytime you want....

http://www.tv-links.co.uk/index.do/1

i've already watched a episode of mythbusters i hadn't seen (probably the only one!)....but it has lots of movies....some brand new....some of the picture quality isn't really great....but it's free....and apparently legal!!....at least for now....

i can see six feet under again...and catch up on deadwood....and see dead like me again.....and see some of my old favorite movies and tv shows.......not to mention some movies i want to see but haven't gotten to see yet....

book i think i need to read....

i don't know anything about this book....but reading the description, it seems like a really weird book that i'd be likely to read....if for nothing else than to see what it is.....

ok...i got talked into starting this but i really am not sure what i'm supposed to do with it....so i guess to start with i'll just put down random thoughts and see what happens....

first of all there's the mess with my face...don't think there's anyone who might read this who doesn't know what's going on with my face...but i'm really getting tired of being in pain not to mention being just plain ugly....having people avert their faces in stores etc.....i never had acne when i was a kid...not any serious skin problems...but i can really sympathize with those poor kids who get the really horrible acne....it must really suck....but this crap looks more like a giant horrible birthmark....and i guess people who grow up with birthmarks on their faces get used to it...they've had it all their lives....my saving grace is that i know it's only temporary....it's already starting to fade a bit and the crusts and scabs are coming off....but it's been a real ordeal....i'll be very thankful when it is all over....i expect it will still be a month or more til it's gone.......one of my co-workers keeps saying it will be like having a "chemical peel" and i'll look years younger with my nice new skin etc....i'd settle for just looking like i used to....

i've never thought of myself as a vain person...and never really cared that much about my skin....didn't go to extraordinary lengths to care for it....seldom wore makeup...in fact i always thought my mother just a bit obsessive and vain for all the crap she used to put on her face and all the money she spent on creams and lotions and potions....which may be why i chose to go the minimalist route....
(interesting that my sister who has always had an adversarial relationship with my mother chose to go the heavy 'skin care and make up' route....) but i find that since i've dealing with this mess i'm very self conscious about my face....tend to walk with my head down and avoid going out to places where i will be in contact with people who don't already know about my face etc....grocery shop in the middle of the night when there will be fewer people out and about....i try to play the game of presenting a brave face to the world....but it's hard....

meanwhile life goes on...been searching for the christening gown i made for jen so she can use it for ellie...i KNOW i have it....but where?....marcus and i have already gone thru all the stuff in the garage and have checked everywhere in the house except the eaves storage behind his bed....getting into that area requires disassembling his bed and moving alot of stuff....but i would really love it if ellie could wear that dress.....i've saved it all these years for the day when jen would have a little girl of her own...

we did find the easter decorations while we were digging....guess i'll decorate my cube....

work goes on as usual...last night was "the night of the bitchy callers"....everyone said they had an unusual number of bitchy callers....so it wasn't just me....and if they weren't bitchy, they were incompetent.....had one chinese lady who couldn't understand what i was telling her when i was trying to tell her how to change her password online and then make a payment....she understood and spoke english well enough but she kept interrupting me and not listening to what i was trying to tell her to do...took over 1/2 hr to do what should have taken less than 5 min (change the password) and then when i was trying to help her make a payment it was the same old thing...she insisted on reading each page to me in it's entirety...and wouldn't look for what i was telling her to look for....i finally transfered her to tech assist because she kept telling me there wasn't any button that said "make a payment"....heard from one of the guys that they transfered her back to our dept to make the payment...and he got her and it took quite a while to get the payment made too....and i know i could get sent to diversity training (again!!) for this but she had one of those high pitched squeeky chinese voices that went right thru my head and made me feel crazy....had a really bad headache at the end of her call.....

and i ended up the night with 20 min of overtime because at quarter to three i got a call from a guy who insisted on going over every single detail of his account and all the charges on the last three statements...not to mention a full explanation of why he has had late fees for the last four months and why it was that when one late fee was reversed it didn't reverse all late fees he's gotten, etc etc etc....yadda yadda yadda....i just kept reminding myself i was getting time and a half for talking to him after three am.....and at the end of the call the guy actually thanked me for taking the time to go over it all with him and complimented me on my customer service skills....too bad he didn't offer to tell my supe about my 'superior' service.....

i'm off today and have been enjoying the lovely weather....even if i haven't gone outside....i got brave and pulled down the plastic on my office window and opened the window to let in some fresh air....of course this means we will now have a blizzard....when ever i take the plastic down, we always have a cold snap.....and in the fall no matter how late i wait to put the plastic up, as soon as i put it up we get a heat wave....sigh....there is snow forecast for next weekend....sorry everyone if it turns into a blizzard!!

ok....i think that's enough for today....
